This February marks Paul Springall’s five-year anniversary as Managing Director at Eurobase People.
To celebrate the occasion, our Digital Marketing Executive, Jess, interviewed Paul and asked him five questions about his past five years at Eurobase People.
Here’s what he had to say:
1. How has Eurobase people changed over the last five years?
“Hard one to answer Jess, but I’d like to think we are a much more respected name within the sector than we were. A recent interviewee said that we were “unrecognisable” from where the business was previously, but everyone has their own perspective I guess, so will leave it for others to make comparisons! Overall, I just want every one of us to be proud of working for Eurobase People…”
2. Have you seen a change in the industry since you started?
“I would think that the industry has seen more change in these 5 years than the previous 20 combined! A global pandemic, a boom and then a very challenging period across most recruitment sectors has meant that we’ve had to flex muscles we forgot we had, and at times it hasn’t been for the fainthearted. That said, I feel we are in a great position, with solid foundations for the future, so looking forward to seeing what the next 5 years will bring!”
3. What has been the biggest challenge in the last five years?
“See question 2! There have been so many, but finding great recruiters remains a pretty consistent challenge throughout… After a calmer period, we are looking to really ramp up in the next 6-12 months to satisfy client demand and I’d forgotten how big a job recruitment was – how ironic hey!”
4. What’s something you’ve been proud of in the last five years, a milestone or achievement?
“Surviving everything that has gone on and getting to this point is not to be underestimated. I’ve also loved putting together incentives and charity partnerships along the way.
“There have also been some fantastic recruitment successes that we’ve had; becoming a key partner to everyone from exciting startups through to several global organisations.
“However, I probably feel most proud of the external recognition we’ve received – last year we had multiple nominations at the REC awards and were highly commended in the Team of the Year category – my number one aim is to win one next time around!”
5. What do you hope for in the next five years?
“Aside from an award as above, I am just looking forward to continuing our development and moving away from the conventional ‘recruitment agency’ tag.
“We do so much more than that, and we’ve already got an enviable track record of providing talent solutions that really do set us apart from a lot of our competition.
“We are also investing heavily in tech and tools as part of our strategic growth plan, embracing AI and automation so the team can do less admin and more recruiting! So there feels like a wonderful symmetry that we’re at this point in our journey as I celebrate my “half decade” in the business – bring it on!”
